What "classic" means on a label

"Classic" is a strength word printed on the bottle by the brand, and it sits at the bottom of the four-word ladder used across the range: classic, strong, extra strong, ultra strong. It is a manufacturer's description of their own product, not a measurement, and there is no standard behind it — one brand's classic and another's are simply two labels.

Practically, it matters for two reasons. It is the tier with the widest brand choice at the lowest prices, and it is the only tier where you will find the three best-known 15ml bottles in the range. The classic singles

10ml — £3.99 each (40p per ml)

15ml — £5.49 each (37p per ml)

These three are worth knowing about because 15ml is a slightly better rate than 10ml — 37p per ml against 40p — for £1.50 more up front. "Trible Juice" is spelled that way on the bottle, so it is not a typo in the listing.

There is no classic-strength 25ml bottle: the 25ml size only exists in the stronger tiers, so if you want the largest bottle in the range you are choosing a different label. The full size tiers are browsable as 10ml and 15ml collections.

The classic multipacks

Ten of the 19 classic options are three-bottle packs, and this is where the cost per ml drops.

3 x 10ml — £9.99 (33p per ml)

Seven packs sit at this price. Six are three bottles of the same brand — Liquid Gold, Pure Gold, Purple Haze, Bang!! Aroma, The Dogs Bollocks and Hi-Tech — and the seventh is the Classic Trio, which is three different classic bottles in one pack.

Three singles bought separately would be £11.97, so the pack saves £1.98.

3 x 15ml — £13.99 (31p per ml)

Three packs at this price, one for each of the 15ml classic brands: XL Gold, Trible Juice Original and Eagle Liquid Aroma. Three singles separately would be £16.47, so the saving is £2.48 — and 31p per ml is the best rate anywhere in the classic tier.

Cost per ml at a glance

The pattern is the same one that runs through the whole shop: price tracks volume, not the strength word. A bigger bottle is better value than a small one, and a three-pack is better value than three singles.

Which classic option to pick

First order, keeping it cheap. A 10ml single at £3.99 is the lowest-cost way in, and the whole tier is in the under £4 collection.

You know you want more than one. Go straight to a 3 x 10ml pack at £9.99 rather than buying singles one at a time — it is £1.98 cheaper than three separate bottles and arrives in one delivery.

You want to try a few labels. The Classic Trio is the only classic pack with three different bottles in it, which makes it the obvious pick over three of the same.

You want the best rate in the tier. The 3 x 15ml packs at £13.99 are 31p per ml, the cheapest classic option by volume.

You are building up to free delivery.
