Everything we sell is a room odouriser containing alkyl nitrites. These are classified as dangerous goods. Please read this page and the label on every bottle.
Hazards
Our products are highly flammable liquids and vapours. They may cause respiratory irritation. Bottles carry the flame and acute toxicity pictograms and the signal word DANGER.
Storage
- Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and hot surfaces. No smoking near these products.
- Store in a cool, well-ventilated place with the container tightly closed.
- Store locked up and out of reach of children and animals.
- Do not store in a vehicle, in direct sunlight, or anywhere that gets warm.
- Take precautionary measures against static discharge.
Handling
- Replace the childproof cap securely after use.
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes. The liquid can burn skin.
- Do not decant into another container.
In an emergency
- Swallowed: this is a medical emergency. Call 999 immediately, or contact a poison centre or doctor. Do not induce vomiting.
- Skin contact: wash immediately with plenty of soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing.
- Eye contact: rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Seek medical advice.
- Fire: use foam or CO2. Do not use a water jet.

Who should not use these products
Alkyl nitrites can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. They can be dangerous for anyone with a heart condition, low blood pressure, glaucoma, anaemia, or a history of stroke, and for anyone who is pregnant.
They must never be combined with erectile dysfunction medication such as sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis) or similar. The combination can cause a catastrophic drop in blood pressure and can be fatal.
Reported effects also include a form of eye damage known as poppers maculopathy, which has been associated in particular with isopropyl nitrite.
Disposal
Do not pour down the drain. Dispose of the product and its container at a household hazardous waste facility. Your local council can advise.
