The per-millilitre question
Here's where a lot of UK buyers get caught out. A £3.99 bottle looks cheaper than a £5.49 bottle, and it is — but it holds less.

The 15ml bottles break the £5 barrier at £5.49, so they don't appear in the under-a-fiver list — but they're cheaper per millilitre than any 10ml. You're paying £1.50 more at the till for 50% more liquid. If your budget is "about a fiver" rather than "strictly under five pounds", the 15ml is the better buy nearly every time. So what should you actually buy for a fiver?
It depends on which of three shoppers you are.
You're trying a brand for the first time
Buy a single 10ml at £3.99 and stop there. There is no discount worth chasing on a first order, and paying £3.99 to find out whether you like a particular label is the cheapest possible way to find out. You know exactly what you want
Skip the under-£5 tier entirely and buy on per-millilitre cost. Either a 15ml single at £5.49 or a three-pack at £9.99 will cost you around 33p to 37p per millilitre instead of 40p. Over a few orders that difference is real money, and you order less often.
You're restocking two or three different labels
The multipacks are the obvious answer here, but note that our three-packs are three bottles of the same product, not a mixed selection — with the exception of the trio bundles, which are curated sets. Why is everything the same price?
A reasonable question, and worth answering plainly. The 10ml isopropyl nitrite bottles we stock come from a small number of UK and European suppliers, and the wholesale cost across the mainstream labels is broadly similar. Rather than pricing bottle-by-bottle and creating an artificial "premium" tier, we've set one price for the 10ml singles, one for the 15ml, and one for the 25ml.
The exception is the X range — X Red and X Green — at £6.99 for 15ml. Those sit in their own strength category and carry a higher cost price, so they're outside the under-£5 conversation entirely.
What "cheap" shouldn't mean
Low price should mean sensible pricing, not old stock. A few things worth checking wherever you buy in the UK:
- Sealed bottles. Every bottle should arrive factory-sealed. If a seal is broken on arrival, don't accept it.
- Current formulations. Labels get reformulated and renamed — "New TNT Super Strength" is called new for a reason. A seller clearing a discontinued version at a discount is not the bargain it looks like.
- Storage. These are volatile liquids sold as room odourisers. They should be stored upright, tightly capped, somewhere cool and dark, and away from heat sources. A poorly stored bottle is a wasted one, whatever it cost.
