The range is deliberately small. Where the Gold family runs to several names and several sizes, X is two bottles and one size. That makes the buying decision unusually simple — you are choosing a colour, and the colour tells you the strength tier.
Why the silver bottle stands out
Most of the category leans on bright colour — yellow, red, purple, cartoon graphics. The X bottles go the other way with brushed silver and a single graphic element. If you keep more than one bottle and want to tell them apart at a glance, that contrast is genuinely useful, and it is one of the more common reasons people mention the range by name.

A note on the labelling, because it causes confusion: these tiers are the manufacturer's own descriptions, not a measured scale. "Ultra Strong" sits above "Extra Strong" in the way the products are marketed and shelved, but there is no standardised industry grading behind those words. Different producers use the terms differently. Treat them as the maker's positioning of its own range rather than as a comparable number.
Within the X range, though, the ladder is internally consistent — the same producer, two bottles, and a clear statement of which sits higher. That is more reliable than comparing an "extra strong" from one brand against an "ultra strong" from another.

If per-ml cost is the deciding factor, the £5.49 bottles are the cheaper route to the same volume; if you specifically want the X labelling, the premium is about £1.50 a bottle.
The three-packs
Both X bottles come as a pack of three at £17.99, against £20.97 for three bought singly — around 14% off. The packs are three of the same bottle rather than a mixed selection, so they suit someone who has already settled on one and wants to restock rather than someone still comparing.
